Harper at Jax Animal Care condemned to die on Sat |
HARPER IS A DOG IN DANGER - Will die on Saturday
He is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped
On Wednesday, September 8th, he was pulled from adoptions and quarantined because an inexperienced volunteer entered his kennel – Harper jumped up to greet this new volunteer and in his excitement grazed the volunteer’s face with his front tooth. I have been told by other volunteers as well as the shelter staff on site that day that is was in no way aggression by Harper, but a volunteer that did not know how to handle a large excited dog. Basically, he was trying to kiss the guy.
He’s now in quarantine for 10 days. Unless he is rescued by a certified rescue group, he will be put down on Saturday the 18. Jacksonville ACPS will not release him to anyone that is not connected to a rescue organization.
Please help us find a rescue group for Harper. He’s a wonderful dog worthy of saving. He will make someone a loyal and loving companion.
Any interested group should contact June Mason at Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services. Her contact information is:

Thank you, thank you. It will break my heart if he is lost because of this tragic circumstance.
I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment, and then spoke softly,"I have done something," was the reply. "I created you." ~Jim Willis
