Sweet Senior Lab has til Friday - Gainesville FL shelter

Please FORWARD this boy is outside Lab rescue and is at the shelter.  He was suppose to be put down TODAY, they said they keep him one more day.  Please let me know if you can help contact Cindy below or myself cfrisbee@lrrof.org  HE DOES NEED TO BE NEUTERED and updated on shots.

Yesterday Alachua County Animal Services notified us about an older male Lab who was scheduled to be euthanized today. His owners left him tied to the shelter entrance gate sometime during the night on Nov. 7 and the shelter workers found him there when they arrived in the morning.

I went out and evaluated him today. He is definitely pure Lab. The shelter has his age at 11 but he acts younger. He is a big boy, weighed 95 pounds on intake but he definitely has lost weight. He is very thin. Amazingly, he is heartworm negative. His energy level is very good. He is not neutered. We took him out in the open yard and he was so happy to be there. He loved to retrieve and he quickly found the basket of toys and took a squeaky toy out and began running around with it. He also liked tennis balls and frisbees. We think he is housebroken because he immediately relieved himself for quite awhile as soon as he got out there. He knew sit and shake. He does not like it when other dogs walk past his cage when he is inside, but when he is walked up and down the kennel area he ignores the other dogs in the kennels and seems frightened, with his head down and his tail tucked.

It's very obvious he is dying to get out of there. The kennel he is in is so small, he can barely turn around in it. The little cot they have in there is too tiny for him to comfortably lie on. He is confused and doesn't understand what is going on.

The shelter has agreed to give us an extra day to find placement for him. Because of his age, he would be a tough adoption through Lab Rescue and it would be better for him to go directly to a permanent home. He seems to have a lot of life left in him. Please help us spread the word about him. I would be happy to answer any questions about him or arrange transport. Contact me at 760-216-2678 or callen@lrrof.org.

Sweet Girl, Bullet, Need Our Help!

Bullet

I really need some help friends. Bullet, needs a place to go. She is a great dog, but should be an only dog unless the new owner has time to work with her and bark busters who has offered 3 free training sessions. Bullet is up to date on all her shots, hw negative and on hw preventative and flea preventative. She is crate trained, house trained, leash trained, knows her commands, loves to play, loves to cuddle, is great on a leash and is a love bug. Her time is up and I can't stand the thought of her leaving this earth. So if you can foster or adopt her, please, please let me know ASAP. I know this dog and she is a sweetie, who was badly abused and needs some love and TLC.

If you can help, please contact Arna via her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/arna.cortazzo

If you can't foster or adopt, please share asap and see if your friends can help!  Thank you!

Two Beautiful Black Labrador Retrievers For Rescue

Meet Thor and Grit they are both 4 year old labs with great personalities. Their owner surrendered both of them to The Fort Lauderdale Animal Care & Adoption Center because they came into hard times. Their owner was evicted from their house and forced to move out of state and unfortunately they could not take their dogs with them. Thor and Grit lived with 5 cats so we know they are good with cats. Both dogs are very well behaved and housebroken. They would love to go to a home together.

We have to get these 2 guys out of shelter by tomorrow.  They were owner surrenders and are very well behaved.  If you can take one, please let me know!!
  Thanks!  Kim  kkhkcpa@fdn.com

Maggie needs a home!

Maggie
Maggie is a loving but independent cat who is de-clawed. She does not climb on counters and she often comes when she is called by name. She is not a lap cat but likes to sleep next to/on you at night. As she has gotten older - she will be five in July - she has come to like more attention. She is somewhat playful but not like a kitten. She does NOT get along with other cats. She will initially hiss and growl at a dog but she will accommodate. She is spayed and chipped. She has had her rabies shot but I did not give her any of the others as she is an indoor cat. She needs to remain an indoor cat because of being de-clawed. If there is any other information that you need, please let me know.   Robin   rsknamaste@yahoo.com

2 y.o. LISA needs you now!

I need your help.  I need to find a foster home or someone to adopt this darling dog.  Read her story.  This dog was professionally trained.  Since the incident with the chi (read below) she has been locked in the bathroom all day.  My friend who placed her in the 1st foster home, has no idea if Lisa will be nervous after being locked away from the other dogs all day or if she will immediately recall her training.  But, she should remember her training once she is with someone who loves her.  Look at the last photo of her in the red harness.  That photo is from the first foster.  Please help me- we are very worried about this sweet dog- where she is now.  I have a potential adopter, but they want a dog who will not jump on their leather couches.  Lisa was trained not to jump on the furniture by the trainer, but we have no idea what has been happening with her since the incident.  if the new foster home can lovingly retrain her, I'm pretty sure have an adopter.   Please read below:

Hi,

This is Lisa, a pretty and sweet Terrier mix about 35 lbs and 2 years old.  She's good with dogs her own size but not little dogs.  When I pulled her, she went to a foster for a while and was very happy.  When that foster had to go out of town, Lisa went to another foster.  After about a week, we were going to send her on transport, but the foster said she would rather keep her until she got adopted.  Then, she said she wanted to keep her and even had her professionally trained.  However, now she wants Lisa out and is claiming she never wanted to keep her and saying all kinds of crap...!

The story I'm getting is that Christmas Eve Lisa caused her Chihuahua to die.  Apparently, Lisa grabbed her by the tail and everything back there came loose inside and the Chi died at the Vet office.  Don't know what happened because the lady was not in the house.  It's really bizarre because for over a year Lisa has lived with several dogs, some small some bigger, and cats, including Chihuahuas.  The lady always said Lisa was good with everybody. I don't know what's going on, but I need to get Lisa out of there before they dump her back at the shelter which they threatened to do.  She can be with bigger dogs like her but not with smaller ones.  Lisa was so happy with the first foster.  Don't know what happened with this one. Lisa is not safe.

She's great with all people.  She's very playful and should only be with dogs her own size not smaller ones.  She's a pretty Brindle as you can see,

Thank you,

Delvys

Buddy needs a new home!

Buddy is 4 years old. He weighs about 20 lbs. He is very sweet. He is very timid at first but gets over it quickly. He is loving and he can be very playful at times. He loves cats and loves to play with them. He is a little afraid of other dogs at first but then he warms up. He is great with kids as well. He does have a problem with having accidents in the house but we think it's because Jamie is away so much. He needs to be reprimanded more about it than she does. So he would need someone to work with him on that.

If you're interested in adopting Buddy, please contact Robin at rsknamaste@yahoo.com.

Three beautiful little Vero poodles need a home

A woman in the Vero community has recenlty passed and her 3 little pooches are in need of a new home.  Who do you know??

Three little, beautiful little Vero poodles need a home
Some of you may remember Pam Rochowiak, drama teacher in our school system and involved with the theater. She was loved by her students and many friends. Pam passed away [recently], leaving behind her gorgeous three little poodles.  On the couch left is Sheree; right is Charmagne; lower is Shirelle. She adored her babies and gave them the very best of care.

Their vet was Dr. Bob Johnson and he verifies that they are wonderful, loving dogs. Sheree (6 years) is on phenobarbital (inexpensive) to avoid any small seizures. The Rx seems to work well. Charmagne is 7 years old and Shirelle is four years old.

Of course, we would wish they could remain together...but not mandatory. Sheree and Charmagne have been together for so long it would be nice if they could be homed together
If you are interested in meeting them, please call me (567-7570) or Judy Kloski (close friend of Pam's). At the moment, the girls are being boarded at Blue Ribbon Boarding and Grooming.
(As of now, there has been no response to her email.)

Please forward this to anyone who might be interested! Thanks for your help!
